The Mx Shakers Competition was a high-energy weekly DC drag competition that provided an exciting platform for performers to showcase their artistry, refine their craft, receive direct feedback, and most excitingly WIN a Crown! Each week brought a new runway challenge, offering the perfect opportunity to create bold designs while also learning and growing from the feedback given by judges. For me, it was a chance to immerse myself in the creative process and contribute to the artistry of drag in a competitive setting.

Throughout the Mx Shakers Competition, I worked both collaboratively as part of Team TrevHER—alongside Crimsyn, TrevHER, and Pat Fogarty—and independently to design and construct full costumes tailored to the weekly runway themes. Each design required a blend of creativity, precision, and adaptability to meet the challenge requirements while highlighting TrevHER’s dynamic personality. As a team, we brainstormed ideas, combined skills, and executed bold concepts that brought each theme to life. Collaboration allowed us to pool strengths, refine designs, and ensure that every detail enhanced TrevHER’s presence on the runway. For other challenges, I took on the complete process myself, from initial sketches to the final construction. These independent projects gave me the opportunity to push my own creative boundaries and showcase my ability to bring a vision to life from start to finish.

The results were a success—TrevHER secured wins wearing designs I contributed to both as part of a team and as an individual. These victories were a testament to the hard work, creativity, and dedication poured into every piece. Whether collaborating or working solo, this experience reinforced the value of versatility and innovation in design and performance art.Mx Shakers wasn’t just about the wins, though. It was an invaluable experience that allowed me to experiment, grow, and feel the thrill of seeing my work celebrated on stage. The weekly feedback helped me refine my techniques and understand how my designs resonated with both audiences and judges. It was a rewarding process, blending performance, design, and storytelling in a way that continues to fuel my passion for drag and creative collaboration.
